- Jesus Rode Into Jerusalem: The Real Story Of Palm Sunday
Mar 24, 2024 • 49 min
Today is Palm Sunday. We are going to go back that day when Jesus rode into Jerusalem to shouts of praise. Luke 19 gives us a rare glimpse into the very real human emotions of Jesus. Hebrews 5:15 says, "We do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses but was in all points tested as we are yet without sin." At this point, Jesus is headed to the Cross. We will follow His steps right up to Easter. The story before us is about what happened on Palm Sunday and after. ___________________________________________________________________________ Thank you for watching, tune in live here on YouTube every Sunday and Thursday for more messages of hope and encouragement from Pastor Greg Laurie! - The 1st Jesus Movement | Sunday Message
Feb 28, 2024 • 46 min
How should Christians live in the midst of social upheaval? In a timely message, Pastor Greg Laurie offers encouragement—as well as a blueprint—for countercultural living from the book of Acts. Listen in for the launch of a new series, The Upside Down Life! Notes We are living in a time where right is wrong and wrong is right. Pray for divine intervention. The word revolution not only means “upheaval” and “change;” it also means “turning around” or “rotating.” The death of Jesus was God’s predetermined plan (Acts 2:23–24). “Organized Christianity which fails to make a disturbance is dead.” —G. Campbell Morgan The book of Acts is simply a picture of normal Christianity. The book of Acts is a record of the acts of the Holy Spirit, covering a 30-year period from AD 33–63. The book of Acts was authored by the Holy Spirit, speaking through Dr. Luke. The name Theophilus means, “Lover of God.” 1. Before you can change the world, you must first be changed. The disciple’s greatness was not because of who they were as individuals; it was because God put His hand on them. Jesus did not call these men who became apostles because they were great; they were great because Jesus called them! The word used for appeared refers to the eyeball. Before they could change the world, Jesus needed to change them. Paul said, “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1). 2. The church had a job to do, and so do we! “You will be My witnesses, telling people about Me everywhere!” (Acts 1:8). Jesus is not late in returning; there is something He wants from us. 3. We need to be filled with the Holy Spirit to do what God calls us to do. The word power comes from the Greek word “Dunamis.” It’s never too late to be used by God. Scripture Referenced • Isaiah 5:20 • Acts 17:6 • 1 Corinthians 1:26–31 • 1 John 1:1 • 2 Peter 3:9 --- SoCal Harvest is back at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, CA. - A Life Well-Lived | Sunday Message
Feb 28, 2024 • 47 min
What are you really passionate about? What motivates you? In this Sunday morning episode, Pastor Greg Laurie gives us a potent example of living wholeheartedly to know God and make Him known. Discover the key to a well-lived life! Notes The priorities of the early church were prayer, Bible study, and evangelism. When God is working, Satan will always be attacking. Happiness is not found in looking for self-fulfillment but self-denial. An early death means an early crown. 1. Stephen was well-respected. Integrity and character are what you are in the dark. 2. Stephen was full of faith and the Holy Spirit. To be filled with the Holy Spirit means to be controlled by the Holy Spirit. 3. Stephen was filled with wisdom. 4. Stephen was faithful in the little things. You can never be too small for God to use, only too big! 5. Stephen looked for opportunities and seized them. “But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit.” —Acts 6:55 When You obey God, He will fill you with the Spirit. “And they cast him out of the city and stoned him.” —Acts 7:58 God gave Stephen the grace he needed when he needed it. As Stephen stood for Jesus on Earth, Jesus stood for Stephen in Heaven! The Bible promises a believer will enter Christ’s presence immediately following death. “Teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts to wisdom.” —Psalm 90:12 “Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator.” —Ecclesiastes 12:1 1. For the Christian walking in the will of God, death will come at the appointed time. 2. The Christian does not have to fear death. Sleep is only used to describe death for the Christian, not the non-Christian. 3. In Heaven, all our questions will be answered. 4. God can bring good out of the worst kind of bad. Stephen’s life was short, but it was full. Stephen went to Heaven. Where will you go when you die? D. introduces four convictions that molded Stephen’s life and see which you can apply! Notes 1. God wants to use me. 2. The Holy Spirit fills me. Nevertheless, I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. 3. As Jesus was to me, I will be to others. 4. Jesus is worth it. - Contending with Discontentment | Sunday Message (with Jonathan Laurie)
Feb 28, 2024 • 48 min
It’s easy for us to fall into discontentment, especially when comparing ourselves to others. King Saul was this way, forgetting his blessings and giving a home to envy and unhappiness. Thankfully, there’s a cure, and Pastor Jonathan’s sharing it in this special Sunday message! Notes We want to live the way we want to live, but we want to also secure our place in Heaven, meaning people will live like a devil, and then hope to die like a saint. People who live their lives for God and are obedient and submissive to His Word, and are grounded in the community of the church, are among the happiest, balanced, most content, and vigorous in this life. When we sin, we are choosing our will and desire for our life, not God’s. Discontentment is not something that only plagued people in Saul’s day; it plagues people today as well! “The roots of them are in all of us, the only way to keep them from growing up rank is to think less of our reputation and more of our duty, to count it a very small matter what men think of us, and the all-important matter what God thinks.” —Alexander McClaren “If you will take care of your depth, God will take care of your breadth. If you will take care of your character, God will take care of your reputation.” —Greg Laurie 1. Practice Contentment. 2. Celebrate the Success of Others. 3. Rejoice, Always! - The God of Second Chances | Sunday Message
Feb 28, 2024 • 48 min
Have you ever thought your sin was so horrible that there was no coming back? Pastor Greg Laurie has good news for you: God gives second chances. In this Sunday episode, hear the story of a man who fell away from God and was in need of forgiveness. Notes “My heart is fixed; my heart is fixed, O Lord.” —Psalm 57:7 The actual sin David committed lasted only a minute, but the repercussions of his sin lasted the rest of his life. “Let him that thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.” —1 Corinthians 10:12 David’s fall came after great spiritual success. The sins we commit today may come back to haunt us tomorrow. 2 Samuel 5 tells us David took concubines, after he became king, in direct disobedience to God. You do not feed lust; you starve it! David was sleeping when he should have been fighting. Our greatest battles do not necessarily come when we are working hard; they often come when we have some leisure time on our hands and when we are bored. When deluded by sin, we do not think clearly because sin makes us stupid. Instead of confessing, David tried to hide his sin. “The thing that David had done displeased the Lord!” —2 Samuel 11:27 Psalm 32 describes the futility and misery of sin that is unconfessed. God disciplines those He loves. We have ourselves to blame when we fall into sin. There is only one correct response to being caught in sin: “I have sinned!” When David was confronted about his sin, he repented. When King Saul was confronted about his sin, he got worse. Despite David’s sin, he was given a second chance in life. Bathsheba made it into the Messianic line of Jesus Christ. Scripture Referenced Matthew 6:31 Hebrews 12:8, 12 Proverbs 28:13 James 1:14–15 Matthew 1:5–6 --- Learn more about Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries at harvest.org (https://harvest.org/) . - “Four Warnings and a Promise” | Sunday Message
Feb 28, 2024 • 48 min
How important are our choices? When we look back at David’s failures, we get the answer: very important. In this Sunday episode, special guest Pastor Jonathan Laurie reminds us that our actions not only impact us, but also our children. With them, we lay their foundation. Tune in to see how you can ensure it’s a sturdy one! Notes The way we walk matters. “The chastening hand of a loving heavenly Father is a very different thing from the judging hand of a holy God.” —Alan Redpath The choices we make matter. 1. The Death of David and Bathsheba’s First Son The hope of Heaven guarantees a reunion. 2. The Rape of Tamar Monogamy is God’s original and best design. We cannot pretend that our actions do not affect those around us. When you engage in sin, it is easy to see the same sin in others, but hard to correct. 3. The Murder of Amnon 4. The Rebellion and Death of Absalom Then Joab came to Absalom at his house and demanded, "Why did your servants set my field on fire?" —2 Samuel 14:31–33 So Joab told the king what Absalom had said. Then at last David summoned Absalom, who came and bowed low before the king, and the king kissed him. Our actions today lay the foundation upon which our children and our descendants will build their lives. The Promise: God does not just sweep life away; instead, He devises ways to bring us back when we have been separated from Him. - Singleness and Dating | Sunday Message
Feb 28, 2024 • 54 min
In this Sunday message, Pastor Jonathan Laurie uses what the Bible says about our purpose on Earth to provide perspective on what to do when single or dating. He’s answering the question, “What are we to do in these seasons?” And you’re invited to hear the answer! Notes “What do you do when we come to a verse in the Bible you disagree with? Change your opinion.” —Greg Laurie 1. The Glorification of God “Thou hast made us for thyself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it finds its rest in thee.” —Augustine To honor God means to put His desires ahead of your desires, His will for your life ahead of your own will. 2. - How to Get a New Husband | Sunday Message
Feb 28, 2024 • 54 min
In this special message, Cathe Laurie joins Pastor Greg to speak to women on being godly wives. Let’s set what culture says aside and instead turn to God’s Word for biblical insight on marriage. It’s a message you won’t want to miss! Notes If we want a marriage and family that succeeds, we must do it as God tell us to! H. O. P. E Holding On with Patient Expectation. “Victory is not won by evacuation.” —Winston Churchill 1. Be the best version of yourself that you can be. Proverbs 31 speaks of a balanced woman strong in every way. The Bible reminds us to not focus on outward appearance alone. The Godly woman focuses primarily on the internal but does not forget the external. The word adornment is “cosmos” in Greek. Note: The Bible does not forbid women to look attractive. Paul gives a balanced view of a balanced believer. The godly woman is known for her wisdom as well as her beauty. 2. Respect your man. For a wife to win her husband requires her to respect him. “When a husband feels disrespected, it is especially hard to love his wife. When a wife feels unloved, it is especially hard to respect her husband.” —Dr. Emerson Eggerichs God is not calling on wives to feel respect; He is commanding them to show respectful behavior. Let your beauty be primarily inward, but don’t forget the outward. Respect and honor your husband. Focus on actions over words to influence your husband. A man needs to listen to what his wife has to say. A woman needs to avoid the temptation to nag. T. – True H. – Helpful I. – Inspiring N. – Necessary K. – Kind Often in communication, we are speaking from different perspectives. 3. Submit to the leadership of your husband. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.” —Galatians 3:28 The husband has the God-given responsibility to provide, protect, and lead just as the Lord does for the church! “But Peter and the other Apostles answered and said, “We ought to obey God rather than men.” —Acts 5:29 Scripture Referenced Song of Solomon 1:10 1 Timothy 4:8 Proverbs 31:26, 30 Ephesians 5:33 Proverbs 31:26 Proverbs 19:13; Proverbs 21:19 --- Learn more about Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries at harvest.org (https://harvest.org/) .
