- Jesus and the Ones Who Listened | Sunday Message
Dec 15, 2024 • 47 min
Though they couldn't be any more different, God spoke to both the shepherds and the wise men. See the part they play in the Christmas story and what we can learn from them. Notes: Focus verses - Luke 2 and Matthew 2 Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice and they follow Me” God spoke to the Shepherds and the Wise Men in a language they understood. In a humble manger in Bethlehem, bible prophecy was fulfilled and the Messiah finally arrived. Jesus was God spelling Himself out in a language we can all understand. God gave the most important announcement in all of human history to shepherds. A shepherd in this culture was at the bottom of the social ladder. #1 On Christmas, Jesus came to ordinary people like you and me. 1 Corinthians 1:27–31 MSG Read Luke 2:8–15 The real message of Christmas is good news! Jesus came to this earth for you. Galatians 2:20 For some, Christmas may not be full of love or joy. The season can be filled with anxiety and stress. Christmas reminds us there is a future for us. The birth of Christ was for the death of Christ and for the resurrection of Christ. Because Jesus rose from the dead, we will never die. #2 Christmas is about God sending a Savior. “And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world.” 1 John 4:14 Jesus came to save us from the power and penalty of sin. God keeps his promises. He came the first time, and He will come again! Titus 2:13 The message of the gospel is, “Good tidings of great joy!” The Christmas season is a wonderful time to share your faith. This was such an amazing announcement, the Shepherds moved quickly. Luke 2:15 Jesus came for all of us. John 3:16 Salvation is for everyone! 2 Peter 3:9 Read Matthew 2:1–6 The Shepherds rushed to see the Baby Jesus. In contrast, Herod wanted to kill Him. The Wise Men were highly educated with a superb knowledge of science. God came to the Wise Men in a way that they could understand and relate to. Jesus said, “I am the Good Shepherd.” John 10:11 Jesus also said, “My sheep hear My voice and they follow Me.” John 10:27 Jesus speaks to you if you are one of His sheep. God primarily speaks to us today through the Bible. --- Learn more about Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries at harvest.org (https://harvest.org/) . - Jesus and the Moral Man | Sunday Message
Oct 27, 2024 • 46 min
Nicodemus was a highly intelligent, cultured, and moral individual. In this message, Pastor Greg Laurie breaks down his conversation with Jesus. It’s not one between rabbi and carpenter, but between God and man. Notes: Focus verse: John 2:23–3:16 We all want our lives to matter. Nicodemus was a highly intelligent, cultured, and moral individual. This is not a conversation between a rabbi and a carpenter. It is a conversation between God and man. Read John 2:23–25 Read John 3:3–10 Jesus saw in Nicodemus a man who was hungry for truth. Everyone is empty, lonely, and afraid to die. The true mark of spiritual growth and maturity is not feeling superior but humble. Nicodemus was the spiritual leader in Israel. Nicodemus came to Jesus by night. Better to have a weak beginning and a strong finish than the opposite. In the end, Nicodemus turned out to be one of the bravest followers of Christ. John 19:39 The great Nicodemus approached Jesus with great respect. Being born again is a supernatural act of God making a person spiritually alive when they were dead in sin. John 3:16–17 God loves you. John 3:16 God proved His love by sending His Son. God’s love is unconditional and universal. God’s gift of salvation is available for everyone who believes. To believe is to adhere to, to commit to, to have faith in, to rely upon, to trust in. Read John 3:19–21 If you are included in the whosoever of John 3:16, then you won't be included in the whosoever of Revelation 20:15. Jesus will receive and reveal Himself to any person who will come to Him honestly. --- Learn more about Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries at harvest.org (https://harvest.org/) . - Why Prophecy Matters Today (Israel and the End Times) | Sunday Message
Oct 13, 2024 • 53 min
Bible prophecy expert, Joel Rosenberg, joins Pastor Greg Laurie. As they discuss the Israel-Iran conflict, discover why Bible prophecy matters and learn about Israel’s significance. Plus, see why it should matter to you in the first place. Notes: Focus verse: Romans 11 The Bible talks about the return of Jesus. Understanding Bible prophecy brings hope in a hopeless world. Titus 2:13 Understanding Bible prophecy unravels the mystery of history. The Bible tells us Satan will be judged. Studying Bible prophecy brings sense to our suffering. “He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever!” Revelation 21:4 1 Thessalonians 4:17 Understanding Bible prophecy brings a specific blessing to us. Revelation 1:3 Understanding Bible prophecy causes us to live godly lives. It is not God’s desire to conceal but to reveal. The key to understanding Bible prophecy is Israel and the Jewish people. Deuteronomy 1:8 The nation of Israel is God’s chosen people and Satan hates what God loves. God made the promise to Abraham and his descendants. Genesis 12:2–3 God is not done with the Jewish people. - Money and Politics | Sunday Message
Oct 6, 2024 • 48 min
During this hot political season, Christians must be wise in spiritual discernment. We must take wisdom from God and not the world. In this message, Pastor Greg Laurie approaches the topic of money and politics, guiding us with God’s Word. Notes: Focus verse: 2 Corinthians 9 Scripture teaches that you and everything you have belongs to God. 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 Everything you have comes from God. Haggai 2:8 “The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.” Proverbs 10:22 The Bible reminds us who gave us the ability to be productive. Deuteronomy 8:18 “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” 1Timothy 6:10 KJV Read: 2 Corinthians 9:6–8 Every believer should give and should do so happily. 2 Corinthians 9:7 It is a blessing and real joy to give. 2 Corinthians 8:4 As we give to God, God will give to us. 2 Corinthians 9:8 “Separation of church and state” does not appear in any of our founding documents. Christians need to speak out and speak up for our faith. Only the gospel can truly turn this nation around. Romans 13:1 There are millions of evangelicals who are eligible to vote in this country. Over half of them do not vote and one-third of them are not even registered. In America, we have the right, privilege, and responsibility to vote. James 4:17 God used many flawed people for His purposes. The Bible supports the right and the necessity of a nation to be secure. God is in favor of borders. Acts 17:26 The Bible supports unborn children and their right to live. The first person to recognize the Messiah was an unborn child. Religious liberty is another huge Issue. The term, “Christian Nationalist,” is a political term used to try to stigmatize evangelical engagement in the public square. The Bible supports marriage and family. Genesis 1:27 We are children of God because of our faith in Christ. We are citizens of another kingdom, the Kingdom of God. The hope for America and any nation is a spiritual awakening. America needs revival! Revival should be the cry of every true child of God! Habakkuk 3:2 --- Learn more about Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries at harvest.org (https://harvest.org/) . - What the Devil Doesn't Want You To Know (With Greg Laurie)
Sep 7, 2024 • 51 min
(00:01 - 01:16) Greg Laurie introduces the topic of spiritual warfare, emphasizing that Christians are in a real battle against Satan and his demons. (08:47 - 21:29) He outlines things the devil doesn't want people to know: Satan is not equal to God He can't act against Christians without God's permission He cannot control believers He was defeated at the cross of Calvary (31:47 - 44:04) The importance of putting on the "armor of God" (from Ephesians 6) is explained, including the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, gospel footwear, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and sword of the spirit. (13:38 - 15:50) Greg Laurie warns against putting oneself unnecessarily in the way of temptation and emphasizes the need to resist the devil through faith in God. (47:00 - 50:23) The message concludes with an invitation for listeners to accept Jesus Christ as their savior and be freed from Satan's power. ___________________________________________________________________________ Thank you for watching, tune in live here on YouTube every Sunday and Thursday for more messages of hope and encouragement from Pastor Greg Laurie! - Hot Button Issues, Part 1 | Sunday Message
Aug 25, 2024 • 48 min
Pastor Greg Laurie opens our new series with a sermon surrounding the subject of gender, identity, and the family. In a rapidly changing culture, we must look to our unchanging God for answers. Get the biblical take on these hot cultural topics. Notes Focus verse: Exodus 20 A true Christian bases their ideas and opinions on a biblical worldview. A nonbeliever bases their ideas and opinions on a secular worldview. ABC Culture: Anything But Christ. Jesus told us to be light, which means we speak up for what is true. If you recoil from what God’s Word says or it makes you uncomfortable, that would indicate that you don’t have a biblical worldview. The Ten Commandments can be divided into two sections. First, God deals with sins against Him. 1. Have no other gods before Him. 2. Have no graven images. 3. Don’t take God’s name in vain. 4. Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy. Second, God deals with our relationship with people. God starts with the family because He created it. Our very existence as a society is contingent on the success of the family. That is probably why Satan hates it, so he has declared war on it. Almost all social ills are a result of broken homes and a lack of fathers. We talk about how to reduce homelessness and sending less people to prison. 95% of all homelessness and runaway children are from fatherless homes. 71% of high school dropouts are from fatherless homes. 85% of all youths sitting in prison today are from fatherless homes. A child from a fatherless home is 68% more likely to use drugs or alcohol. 63% of teens who attempt suicide are from fatherless homes. Fatherless daughters are 111% more likely to have children as teens and 164% more likely to have an out-of-wedlock birth. God’s order is to honor your father and mother. God is anti-sin no matter how it is expressed. 1 Corinthians 6:9–10 God’s order is for the family to be a man and woman, a husband and wife. As sinners, some may struggle with temptations that others do not. Transsexualism and gender dysphoria is the feeling that your biological gender does not match what you perceive yourself to be. There are bigger issues in play here. Young people want to find identity and be celebrated as well. Deep down, this is a search for meaning in life and a search for God. You don’t need to change your sex; you need God to change your heart. Having attraction does not mean anything more than you are a sinner. You are not defined by your sin. God’s order is a man and woman in a monogamous relationship in marriage. You are not born gay nor are you born a different sex than your biological gender. If you turn from this sin, God can and will forgive you. Sex in and of itself is neither bad nor evil. In its proper context, it is good and can even be blessed by God. Hebrews 13:4 Proverbs 5:15 God gave us sex as a way to create a unity between a man and a woman. 1 Corinthians 6:15 Sex is not some casual toy; it is a gift from God to be saved for that person you want to become one with. The topic of abortion or killing a pre-born baby is not a debatable topic. Life begins at conception, not at birth. Psalm 139:13–16 “You were deliberately planned, specifically gifted, and lovingly positioned on this earth by the Master Craftsman.” —Max Lucado Abortion is taking the life of an innocent child in the womb. Whatever sin you have committed can be forgiven by Jesus. --- Learn more about Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries at harvest.org (https://harvest.org/) . - What Happens When We Die? | Sunday Message With Max Lucado
Aug 11, 2024 • 49 min
What happens when we die? It’s a question as old as time—and the answer’s right in the Bible. And today, pastor and author Max Lucado addresses this spiritual question and helps ease any fears we have relating to the afterlife. Notes: What happens when we die? “In slavery by their fear of death.” Hebrews 2:15 NIV “We want you to be quite certain, brothers, about those who have died, to make sure that you do not grieve about them, like the other people who have no hope.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13 TJB Where do we go when we die? “Remember me when You come into Your Kingdom.” Luke 23:42 NCV “I tell you the truth, today, you will be with Me in paradise.” Luke 23:43 NCV “I was caught up to the third heaven fourteen years ago. Whether I was in my body or out of my body, I don’t know—only God knows. Yes, only God knows whether I was in my body or outside my body. But I do know that I was caught up to paradise and heard things so astounding that they cannot be expressed in words, things no human is allowed to tell.” 2 Corinthians 12:2–4 NLT “I tell you the truth, today, you will be with Me in paradise.” Luke 23:43 NCV “We … would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8 NIV “…Heaven open and the Son of Man standing at God’s right side.” Acts 7:56 NCV “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Acts 7:59 NCV “Thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly [being joined by] the spirits of the righteous made perfect.” Hebrews 12:22–23 NIV “Carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom.” Luke 16:22 NKJV “Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgements and how inscrutable His ways!” Romans 11:33 ESV “When Christ appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.” 1 John 3:2 NIV “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” Hebrews 12:1 NLT “Since we are surrounded … let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” Hebrews 12:1 NLT --- Learn more about Greg Laurie and Harvest Ministries at harvest.org (https://harvest.org/) . - Israel: The Key to the End Times | Sunday Message
Jul 7, 2024 • 51 min
Although Israel plays a significant role in Bible prophecy, there is still a lot misunderstood. Pastor Greg Laurie provides clarity on the topic. Learn about God’s plan and how this nation plays a part in it. Notes: Focus verses: Ezekiel 37 / Romans 11 As the signs of the times increase and get closer together, it reminds us that Jesus’ coming is very near. The nation Israel is the key to the end times. The Jews are God’s chosen people, and Satan hates what God loves. A sign of the end times is the regathering of the Jews in Israel. Read: Ezekiel 37:1–6, 11–14 Israel will be scattered. Israel will be regathered. Israel will regain Jerusalem. Israel will be isolated. The city of Jerusalem will be a focal point of the end times. Israel will be “an intoxicating drink,” “a heavy stone,” and “a burden for the world.” Zechariah 12:2–3 After being regathered in their land, Israel will be attacked. Read: Ezekiel 38:2–6, 10–11 Magog today probably represents the former underbelly of the Soviet Union. Rosh is the remote part of the North, so it may be a direct reference to Russia. Gomer is part of modern Turkey. Persia is modern Iran. “Iran clearly knows now how to unlock the doors to a nuclear Armageddon.
