The subject of prosperity has often been misunderstood and even abused in the church, but blessing and increase are common themes throughout Scripture so it is important to study and understand God’s original purpose for wealth. Favor in our lives is always for the benefit of others. True wealth begins on the inside; how we manage our hearts and our trust in God and steward what He has put in our hand. Our internal reality is connected to and shapes our external reality. 3 John 2 says “I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers”. Prosperity and blessing in our lives can either be used to expand the Kingdom, or become an idol in our lives.
